Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins
The thickness of the book somehow scared me because I’m not fond of reading novels with many chapters. But, Stephanie Perkins, the author of the book, succeeded in making me realize that her thick book was worth-reading. The feels after reading the book were all unusual for me. I considered this as an achievement for me.
To start my review, I should say that I like Anna’s character and personality. Her charm and drama reminded me of my own life when I was a teen. Her sarcasms, jokes, and innocence made me laugh at some points. Perhaps, she was a representative of her generation. The way she managed to adjust in Paris was commendable. With that, I really adored her most specially her nickname Banana Elephant.
The plot was simple. The only complicated things about this novel were the developments between Anna Oliphant and Etienne St. Clair. Until now, I was wondering how should I pronounce St. Clair’s name. Furthermore, the relationship between these two characters was twisted (even if they stayed together at the end. Oops. Spoiler). This couple’s sweetness was so cuuute! There was no detailed scene about a thing yet St. Clair was still sexy for me.
The only thing that I’d been looking for was its difference among the cliché love stories. It didn’t differ so much at all. But still, I liked the author’s way of describing the Paris. I felt that I was in the same place with Etienne and Anna. I now wished to visit Paris someday.
I would be taking a break from Perkin’s book, next book would be Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Hearts everywhere!
